The more and more MCSEs I deal with at work...  the more and more I realize that they don't know a whole lot.  It really just seems like a book certification...  a cram and move on certification.  I've met some REALLY smart people in the industry, and zero of them had Microsoft certifications.  Some of the smartest people I've met had Cisco certifications...  MCSE must be a pretty lame certification.
