I think I'm finally starting to understand the idea of packages.  I never really wanted to use RPMs before, but I'm coming around.  Some things that need tweaking (Apache, PHP, MySQL) I'll still compile, but the rest I should probably do RPM.  It installs all the handy OS stuff that you might not get otherwise.
