We had a hard drive in a server die. It's in a chassis with five other drives and I don't know which drive died. I have a drive as a replacement and I need to figure out which drive failed. The drive still responds to SMART requests so I was able to read the serial number from the drive.

smartctl -a /dev/hdf Knowing the serial number I can pull the drives one by one until I find the one that matches the serial number.
